JAAMIR is a non-profit social organisation that aims to inspire and motivate people in Bangladesh to strive for self-improvement. Our main work is reading: we help anyone aged 12 or over who lives in Bangladesh, of any nationality, build a lasting habit of reading English books and sharing what they learn.

Our name

JAAMIR is named after the late Md Amir Hossain and his wife, Jahanara Akter, who have always been a source of inspiration for their family. Their devotion, honesty and humanity, and their commitment to making a positive difference in other people’s lives, are the values we try to carry forward.

What we do

Book Reading Competition

One English book each session. Participants read it and give a short presentation online, judged by invited scholars. Rules
